While perusing a book exhibit on the last day of a pathology meeting several years ago, I picked up this textbook in its first edition. I was immediately impressed by the beautiful color photographs and the practical approach to diagnostic problems. However, the price was somewhat steep for my then somewhat constrained budget, and I regretfully replaced the book on the shelf. The salesman, perhaps wishing to pack up fewer books, offered me a rather deep discount, which I immediately and gratefully accepted. I found the book extremely useful during the following years.
