The modest study by Komaromy et al.1 in this issue of the Journalusefully reminds the medical world that not only verbal discrimination2but also more blatant forms of sexual harassment are remarkablyprevalent even in our prestigious profession. Interestingly,the authors included male residents among those surveyed anddocumented a harassment rate of 73 percent among women and 22percent among men responding. The effect of harassment on thetwo sexes differed, however; more than 50 percent of the menalleging harassment, as compared with only 13 percent of thewomen, thought that there were no negative effects.
