Presentation of Case

A 32-year-old man was referred to the hospital because of hyperthermia on exercise.

The patient had been well and athletic until 4 1/2 years earlier, when he began to experience intermittent fever provoked by exercise and followed by myalgia and excessive fatigue. When he held an object in his hand it caused the hand to "cramp up," and holding a heavier weight, such as 15 kg, for a longer period was perceived as holding a weight of 45 kg.
