To the Editor: Harry Schwartz's review of my book (coauthored with Laurel Hixon Illston and Raymond J. Hanley), Sharing the Burden: Strategies for Public and Private Long-Term Care Insurance (Jan. 19 issue),1 was disappointing to me and to anyone seriously interested in the problems of long-term care. The review careens from irrelevancy (the price is not listed on the cover) to name calling (the authors "are living in Cloud-Cuckoo Land").

What is particularly irritating is that Schwartz has no expertise in long-term care and made no serious effort to grapple with the intellectual issues raised by the research. By his . . . [Full Text of this Article]
