The incidence of granulocytopenia requiring treatment was 15 percentage points higher in the treatment group than in the placebo group. More patients had this complication than were prevented from having CMV, and the granulocytopenia was long-lasting. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) was required
