Recently, there have been astounding advances in immunology with the introduction of molecular biology into this discipline. The application of this new knowledge to specific organs, such as the lung, has necessarily lagged behind, but this book attempts to provide an overview of pulmonary immunology, with particular emphasis on immunologic mechanisms in pulmonary diseases.
