These essays were written in response to a request by Delese Wear, the editor, for each contributor to provide "a personal narrative about her feminism . . . and to describe how she enacts her feminism in medical school or university settings and in her life outside medicine." In the foreword, Frances Conley sounds a rousing battle cry. The 15 essayists have had direct contact with medicine as students, teachers, or administrators, and all of them demonstrate talent and determination in the pursuit of their careers.
