The National Hardware Show was the site chosen for a joint news conference between a spokesperson for the American Medical Association (AMA) and the chief executive officer of the Sunbeam Corporation of Delray Beach, Florida. In their first-ever such arrangement with a commercial enterprise, the AMA had agreed to an exclusive endorsement of nine Sunbeam products, including scales, air cleaners, massagers, thermometers, vaporizers, and humidifiers.
