Transvaginal ultrasonography of the endometrium has become an important part of the evaluation of women presenting with abnormal uterine bleeding. It is noninvasive, low in cost, and widely available.1 As described by Langer et al. in this issue of the Journal,2 transvaginal ultrasonography can reveal changes in the thickness or texture of the endometrium that indicate histologic abnormalities, though an exact histologic diagnosis cannot be made on the basis of these findings.
