To the Editor: Idiopathic cystoid macular edema is an uncommonform of retinal edema that is refractory to treatment with drugssuch as acetazolamide1 that are used in patients with othertypes of macular edema.2,3 We describe the beneficial effectof octreotide in a patient with this disorder.
A 21-year-old man was found to have moderate color-vision defectsat routine examination. One year later, he noticed blurred vision.His visual acuity was 20/50 in the right eye and 20/40 in theleft eye (Snellen chart).
