To the Editor: Gainer et al. (Oct. 29 issue)¹ show that the short-term effects on blood pressure and renin levels of a single oral dose of 25 mg of captopril in sodium-depleted normotensive and hypertensive subjects can be reduced by a simultaneous intravenous infusion of the B₂-receptor antagonist icatibant (100 µg per kilogram of body weight).

The authors suggest that the short-term hemodynamic effect of 25 mg of captopril was stronger than that of 75 mg of losartan and that the combination of captopril and icatibant resulted in a reduction in blood pressure that was similar to the reduction . . . [Full Text of this Article]
