Therapies for viral hepatitis, mainly hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis delta virus (HDV), and hepatitis G virus infection, are a matter of concern for many physicians, not only specialists in gastroenterology and hepatology but also for internists, virologists, and others. An estimated 2 billion people have or have had HBV infection, and another 350 million people are HBV carriers, representing a huge reservoir of virus and spreading the disease to nonvaccinated populations.
