To the Editor: Medical castration with long-acting gonadotropin-releasinghormone agonists is an effective therapy for men with metastaticprostate cancer.1,2 Initially, these agonists had to be givendaily, but depot preparations that can be administered at intervalsof one to three months are now available.3,4 We describe herethe response to a longer-acting implant releasing the gonadotropin-releasinghormone agonist histrelin (Hydron, Hydro Med Sciences) in menwith prostate cancer.
