To the Editor: Tazarotene is a novel receptor-selective retinoidoriginally developed for the topical treatment of mild-to-moderateplaque psoriasis.1 On the basis of recent hypotheses about theeffects of this agent on the differentiation and proliferationof keratinocytes,2 we performed an open-label clinical trialto evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of topical tazarotene(0.1 percent in gel) in the treatment of basal-cell carcinoma.
