To the Editor: Recently, the American College of Cardiologyand the American Heart Association released an expert consensusdocument on the use of sildenafil (Viagra) in patients withcardiovascular disease.1 The recommendations focused on patientswith coronary artery disease, but little is known about theeffect of sildenafil on patients with other cardiac disorders.
We report on a 54-year-old man with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.Echocardiography performed in 1994 showed no gradient at restand only mild obstruction of the aortic outflow tract afterinhalation of amyl nitrite.
