This book attempts to provide comprehensive and up-to-date information about the history, epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of multiple sclerosis. It is intended for specialists in multiple sclerosis and presents information in a practical and helpful way. In large measure, the book succeeds admirably. The organization is sensible, and the information easy to access. The book begins with a thorough and interesting discussion of the origins and evolution of our knowledge about this condition and continues with detailed discussions of the pathophysiology, epidemiology, symptomatology, diagnosis, and treatment of the illness. It concludes with discussions of often neglected (but very important) topics:
