To the Editor: Sutter et al. (Sept. 14 issue)¹ support the use of oral poliovirus vaccine (OPV) plus inactivated-poliovirus vaccine (IPV) to enhance levels of immunity, especially against type 3 poliovirus. In an accompanying editorial, John² supports an IPV-only program, in place of the program of IPV followed by OPV, in countries where wild poliovirus is still endemic.
