Presentation of Case

A 42-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of pulmonary cysts.

The patient had a long history of nasal allergy, with occasional wheezing on exposure to cats; hives after ingestion of shellfish; dry eyes and mouth; and occasional swelling and stiffness of the left hand and right wrist. Eleven years before admission, a biopsy of his lower lip showed prominent chronic sialadenitis, a finding consistent with the diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome.
