To the Editor: The Super Bowl is the most popular regular televisionbroadcast in the United States, with an audience of about 130million Americans. We studied driving fatalities on 27 consecutiveSuper Bowl Sundays, because alcohol, inattention, and fatigueare major contributors to fatal motor vehicle crashes.1 To doso, we compared each Super Bowl Sunday to the immediately precedingand subsequent Sundays (comparisons that controlled for seasonof the year, day of the week, and calendar year).
