To the Editor: The International Adjuvant Lung Cancer Trial (IALT) Collaborative Group (Jan. 22 issue)1 concludes that their study demonstrates that "cisplatin-based adjuvant chemotherapy improves survival among patients with completely resected non–small-cell lung cancer." The IALT Collaborative Group is to be commended for a study that represents an important milestone in our approach to the treatment of such patients. However, in examining Figure 2 of the article, we find that 34.5 percent of patients with stage I disease who received chemotherapy died, as compared with 35.1 percent of the control group.
