To the Editor: In her Perspective article on chemotherapy for colorectal cancer, Schrag (July 22 issue)1 decries breakthrough cancer medicines as unaffordable. However, she fails to mention that the majority of spending on cancer care is for care other than drugs. Perhaps the right question is the following: What value is placed on cancer care as a whole, rather than on one type of therapy, singled out?
