Angiotensin-convertingenzyme (ACE) inhibitors are effectivein reducing mortality and morbidity from cardiovascular eventsamong patients who have chronic heart failure due to left ventricularsystolic dysfunction and in those who have acute myocardialinfarction with or without left ventricular systolic dysfunction.ACE inhibitors are also effective in reducing mortality andmorbidity from cardiovascular events in high-risk patients withdiabetes mellitus as well as those with renal dysfunction.
