To the Editor: The excellent review by Juweid and Cheson (Feb. 2 issue)¹ on the powerful diagnostic use of ¹⁸F-fluorodeoxyglucose (¹⁸F-FDG) as a tracer for hypermetabolic neoplasms raises interesting questions about its potential use as a therapeutic agent. Other tumor-avid radiopharmaceutical agents such as ⁹⁰Y- or ¹³¹I-labeled B-cell antibodies can produce regression of lymphoma when given in therapeutic doses,² and a potential exists for the same approach with tumor-avid positron-emitting compounds such as ¹⁸F-FDG.
