Dr. Joanna J. Wykrzykowska (Medicine): A 36-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of a mass in the right adrenal gland. The patient had been well until seven months before admission, when numbness developed in his left arm, one week after he had been in a motor vehicle accident. He saw a chiropractor, who ordered magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of his cervical spine, which disclosed a cystic lesion in the medulla. During the evaluation he was noted to have hypertension.
