Dr. David T. Ting (Medicine): A 59-year-old man was admitted to this hospital because of fever as well as pain and swelling of both eyes, which was worse in the left, and the right ear. The patient had been well until 6 weeks before admission, when headache and fever developed; he saw his physician, who sent him to the emergency department of another hospital, where a diagnosis of a viral syndrome and sinusitis was made.
