(Nov. 20 issue) report the results of Justification for the Use of Statins in Prevention: an Intervention Trial Evaluating Rosuvastatin (JUPITER),1 which showed that rosuvastatin significantly reduced cardiovascular events in patients with elevated levels of C-reactive protein. However, broad application of their results in primary prevention is premature, since the baseline therapy that many patients in the study were receiving did not meet existing standards.
