Lane 1 shows a positive control (soluble TREM-1 [sTREM-1], 50 pg per milliliter), lane 2 bronchoalveolar-lavage supernatant from a patient with pneumonia, and lane 3 bronchoalveolar-lavage supernatant from a patient without pneumonia.
