Dr. Quill is a professor of medicine, psychiatry, and medical humanities and the director of the Center for Palliative Care and Clinical Ethics at the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y.; Dr. Meier is a professor of geriatrics, medicine, and medical ethics and the director of the Lilian and Benjamin Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute and the Center to Advance Palliative Care at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York.

Rachel Gotbaum, the interviewer, is an independent producer based in Boston.
