A lot is promised in the preface to this book, and at least in part, the author delivers. The book is intended for an audience that has some background in statistics, but not necessarily for those who wish to pursue the subject with mathematical rigor. The material presented does not include elementary statistical methods, but that is not the author's intent. The book addresses two areas not usually presented: cohort analysis and spatial analysis.
