Figure 1. Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome.

Striking examples of facial (Panel A) and lip (Panel B) pigmentation are shown in an eight-year-old boy with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, an inherited disorder characterized by mucocutaneous pigmentation, gastrointestinal polyposis, and occasionally carcinoma of the colon or duodenum. The patient also had smudgy pigmentation of the fingertips and pigmentation of the mucous membranes of the mouth, but no other manifestations.
