To the Editor: The article by Winawer et al. (April 1 issue)1 comparing surveillance intervals after colonoscopic removal of newly diagnosed adenomatous polyps was of great interest but dealt only with the issue of colonoscopic discovery and evaluation. The flexible sigmoidoscope is now being used by many internists. Its use in screening would have been more fully delineated if the polyps discovered by colonoscopy were mapped. Perhaps the authors could tell us where the polyps were initially discovered and where they were when there was recurrence.
