The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reportsthat women constitute the fastest-growing group of people withAIDS in the United States. Women now represent 13 percent ofreported cases. Approximately 80,000 women of childbearing ageare infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), andas many as 14,000 women will have been given a diagnosis ofAIDS by the end of 19931.
