To the Editor: Diss et al. (July 15 issue)¹ described a case of mucosa-associated lymphoid-tissue (MALT) lymphoma presenting in multiple sites over a number of years. Using methods based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), they demonstrated a common clonal origin of cells from biopsy specimens obtained over a 13-year period. One specimen was obtained during gastric resection and had histologic features of benign peptic ulcer (year 1), a lip-biopsy specimen had histologic features of Sjogren's syndrome (year 11), and gastric and bone marrow specimens revealed B-cell MALT lymphoma (year 13).
