Dual Diagnosis is a welcome book for all of us who have suffered the frustration of dealing with patients who have both a psychiatric disorder and a substance-abuse disorder. This book represents the collective efforts of a "treatment resource team" largely from New York University and St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. The well-researched material reflects important and innovative work. The text flows easily and is informative and enjoyable to read.

Psychiatry has a poor track record in dealing with alcoholism and addiction, as has the emerging specialty of addiction medicine with psychiatric disorders. Clearly, the time has come . . . [Full Text of this Article]
