In large doses, folic acid can correct the megaloblastic anemia associated with vitamin B12 deficiency without correcting and potentially even aggravating the neurologic abnormalities associated with this deficiency.3 The coexistence of vitamin B12 deficiency and rheumatoid arthritis has been reported.4 In patients with Crohn's disease and ileal involvement, vitamin B12 deficiency is not uncommon.5
