In Science and the Quiet Art, Sir David Weatherall, a major contributor to our knowledge of human genetics, takes his colleagues and the general public on a spectacular voyage through the history of medical research. Weatherall, a prolific writer and editor of textbooks, monographs, and scientific papers, is the Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford. He is best known for his many contributions to the study of thalassemia and for the superb human-genetics laboratory, supported by the Medical Research Council, that he created on the Oxford campus.
