Figure 1. A right atrial mass was observed in a 42-year-old woman who presented with atrial fibrillation. A four-chamber view of the heart (Panel A) obtained intraoperatively by transesophageal echocardiography, demonstrated a mass in the right atrium (RA) obstructing the right ventricular inflow (RV). An encapsulated cystic rhabdomyoma (9 cm by 6 cm by 3 cm) and attached atrial stalk (Panel B) were excised during hypothermic circulatory arrest. A transesophageal echocardiogram obtained immediately thereafter showed a persistently enlarged right atrium.
