Figure 1. A cross-sectional computed tomographic scan of the abdomen of an 85-year-old man shows an aneurysm (arrow) of the infrarenal aorta measuring 10 cm in diameter. The initial diagnosis was made on physical examination by palpation of a pulsatile abdominal mass and was confirmed by computed tomography. The infrarenal aorta was replaced by a tube graft, and the remaining aneurysmal wall was trimmed and sutured back around the graft as a reinforcement. L denotes lumen, T mural thrombus lining the aneurysm, and IVC inferior vena cava.
