Uterine cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women, with an estimated 34,000 cases and 6000 deaths in the UnitedStates in 1996.1 It is the most curable of the 10 most commoncancers in women and the most frequent and curable of the gynecologiccancers. Ninety-seven percent of all cancers of the uterus arisefrom the glands of the endometrium and are known as endometrialcarcinomas. The remaining 3 percent of uterine cancers are sarcomas, which are not discussed here. Numerous changes in the pathologicaldescription of endometrial cancer, identification of prognosticvariables, staging, and treatment have occurred . . . [Full Text of this Article]
