Numerous flesh-colored umbilicated papules appeared on the face of a 33-year-old man with a three-year history of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and a CD4 cell count of 60 per cubic millimeter. Prominent lesions along the margin of the eyelids prevented him from closing his eyes completely (Panel A). Numerous similar lesions were also present in the groin, with scattered lesions on his scalp, buttocks, and legs. His systemic symptoms included diarrhea and fatigue.
