To the Editor: Eriksson et al. (Nov. 6 issue),1 in comparing desirudin (Revasc) with enoxaparin (Lovenox) for the prevention of thromboembolic complications after total hip replacement, administered a standard European dosage of enoxaparin (40 mg subcutaneously once daily). In the United States, enoxaparin is approved for this indication at a dosage of 30 mg subcutaneously twice daily. A regimen of 30 mg twice daily is also the current recommendation set forth by the American College of Chest Physicians.2
