Recently, two rare genetic disorders have been linked to abnormalitiesin a novel cytokine-signaling mechanism, and the growth of leukemiacells was shown to be inhibited by selective blockade of thismechanism.1,2,3 The details of this signaling mechanism haveemerged only within the past five years, yet it has alreadybeen the subject of more than 1000 scientific reports and promisesto have many clinical applications.
