To the Editor: Palella et al. (March 26 issue)1 reported thatthe use of more intensive antiretroviral therapies is responsiblefor declines in both morbidity and mortality in patients withAIDS. We conducted a study to evaluate the impact of proteaseinhibitors on the rates of selected opportunistic processesand mortality and found similar results.
