To the Editor: Data from Gott et al. (April 29 issue)1 show no correlation between the aortic-root diameter and the probability of aortic dissection in patients with Marfan's syndrome. Comparison of the data for the group of patients with an aortic-root diameter of 6.1 to 7.0 cm, approximately 20 percent of whom had dissections, with the data for the group of patients with an aortic-root diameter of 4.1 to 5.0 cm, of whom approximately 30 percent had dissections, shows an absolute decrease in risk that approaches statistical significance.
