To the Editor: Myocardial ischemia is an important cause of sudden death and syncope in children with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.1,2 Yetman et al. (Oct. 22, 1998, issue)3 reported an association between intramyocardial incorporation and compression of sections of epicardial coronary vessels (bridging) in children with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and the severity of the disease, the risk of arrhythmias, and the risk of sudden death. In view of the therapeutic implications of their findings, we reviewed the coronary angiograms obtained in 44 children with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy who were evaluated at the National Institutes of Health.
