To the Editor: A 10-year-old boy was admitted to the hospital with crampy epigastric pain after eating. He mentioned swallowing a small object. Gastroscopy revealed a toy flashlight (2.5 cm in diameter) emblazoned with a cartoon character (Figure 1). The boy's symptoms were relieved after the flashlight was removed, and his flashlight still worked.
