The terrorist attacks on the United States of September 11,2001, are without precedent in modern history. On the basisof the incidence of psychiatric illness in the aftermath ofother disasters particularly the Oklahoma City bombing,1which was of considerably smaller scope and magnitude we can anticipate a substantial incidence of mental health problemsafter these events.
