This excellent second edition is an update of the highly successful first edition of The Pituitary, published in 1995. For the pituitary, a small gland albeit the "master gland" of the endocrine system, a surprising amount has changed since then. There have been major advances in the molecular biology of pituitary hormone production and action, and there is now a better understanding of the pathogenesis of pituitary tumors and clinical syndromes resulting in perturbation of pituitary function.
