Publication of the same research data in two or more journals (duplicate, or redundant, publication) is a practice that does not serve the interest of the medical community. Virtually all medical journals have policies against duplicate publication, and according to the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors,1 significant infractions should be reported to readers.
