The controversy over the question of whether to use high-dosechemotherapy and autologous hematopoietic stem-cell transplantationin women with high-risk breast cancer has persisted for morethan a decade.1 It has never been more clearly highlighted thanit is in the articles by Rodenhuis2 and Tallman3 and their colleaguesin this issue of the Journal.
